One thing that Border should be proud of is its Border Birthdays feature. Always at 5.10pm just before Home and Away, kids and grown-ups would eagerly awaite their name to be read out on TV if it was their birthday (I was one of them).
Now it is no more as in 2000 Border commissioned an animation company who live just across the road from me (3 bear animations) to create a new programme called Nitty and Gritty to replace Border Birthdays. Things will never be the same again.
